The World’s Most Innovative Countries: 2020 - 2022

South Korea retained the global crown in the 2022 Bloomberg Innovation Index, though improvements by Germany in research and education brought Europe’s largest economy to near-parity in the annual ranking.

The U.S. moved up to eighth place, a year after cracks in education scores pushed it out of the top 10 for the first time.

The annual Bloomberg Innovation Index, in its seventh year, analyzes dozens of criteria using seven metrics, including research and development spending, manufacturing capability and concentration of high-tech public companies.

The ranking comes as global elites gather at this week’s annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where they will discuss the future of globalization, the role of the state and how innovation propels countries forward.

In the Bloomberg Index, Germany almost caught six-time champion South Korea on the strength of added-value from manufacturing and research intensity, much of it built around industrial giants such as Volkswagen AG, Robert Bosch GmbH and Daimler AG. Although South Korea extended its winning streak, its lead narrowed in part because of lower scores in patent activity.

How to grow up SUCCESSFUL CHILD?! Three parents strategies: do nothing, react or prevent.

About children and teenagers...

Self-doubt, introspection, pessimism .... - frequent manifestations of adolescence.

There are three strategies for dealing with this:
First. Do nothing, it will go away.
About 93% of parents think so.

And so their children join the ranks of the unemployed or chronic pessimists, to whom, at best, a career promises a place in an ordinary profession. As a rule, such fathers and children then quarrel, because. children blame indifferent parents for everything or they "chronically suffer" together.

Second. React on problems. There is a problem - there is a reaction.
Up to 5% of parents do this.

For example, when a child has low self-esteem, then buy him individual lessons with a psychologist or enroll in personal growth courses and, thus, correct the child's reactions. In general, a normal strategy for helping the child cope with newly emerging experiences. But only tactically normal, because the result will be a short-term improvement in the state. It's like "a short-term treatment for a disease that has arisen against the background of a weakened immune system." We need to think about the strategic strengthening of immunity, hardening, if you want.

Why Teachers love Apples? Why it is the symbol of teacher globally?

There are two theories as to why students give teachers apples:
  • Apples are considered to be a symbol of knowledge and wisdom.
  • Apples were once given as a form of payment for education.

The exact reason why students give teachers apples is actually unknown, and we cannot be certain why.
However, these two theories are agreed to be the most plausible and likely reasons.
So, why do students give teachers apples? Let’s find out…

Theory #1: Apples Are A Symbol Of Knowledge And Wisdom

The first theory which aims to answer the question, why do students gives teachers apples? is based on apples being a symbol of knowledge and wisdom.

Top 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2020-2022

Ranked: the Top 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2020-2022

Corporate longevity is on the decline. In the 1960s, a typical S&P 500 company was estimated to last more than 60 years — these days, the average lifespan is just 18 years.

In today’s fast-paced world, companies need to stay relevant in order to survive. Because of this, it’s become increasingly more important for businesses to prioritize innovation.

This chart looks at the top 50 most innovative companies in 2020-2022, based on a survey by Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

The companies have been ranked based on four variables:
Global “Mindshare”: The number of votes from all innovation executives.
Industry Peer Review: The number of votes from executives in a company’s industry.
Industry Disruption: A diversity index to measure votes across industries.
Value Creation: Total share return.

Breakdown of the Leaderboard

BCG has been ranking the most innovative companies since 2005. Here’s a look at the top 50 most innovative companies in 2020-2022. APPLE is on the 1st Place!

Elon Musk: it should be taught to all at a young age

Elon Musk reposted an infographic which was titled ‘50 Cognitive biases to be aware of so you can be the best version of yourself’. He captioned the post "should be taught to all at a young age".

Cognitive biases are shortcuts your mind uses when you need to make a decision quickly. They can cause you to act against your best interests or the most logical option.

1. Fundamental Attribution Error: We judge others on their personality or fundamental character, but we judge ourselves on the situation.

2. Self-Serving Bias: Our failures are situational, but our successes are our responsibility.

3. In-Group Favoritism: We favor people who are in our in-group as opposed to an out-group.

4. Bandwagon Effect: Ideas, fads and beliefs grow as more people adopt them.

5. Groupthink: Due to a desire for conformity and harmony in the group, we make irrational decisions, often to minimize conflict.

6. Halo Effect: If you see a person as having a positive trait, that positive impression will spill over into their other traits. (This also works for negative traits).

7. Moral Luck:
Better moral standing happens due to a positive outcome; worse moral standing happens due to a negative outcome.

4 mental models for smarter decision making

1. 10/10/10 Rule

Most of us have been guilty of making decisions without thinking about the long term consequences, and the 10/10/10/ rule can used to reflect on the long-term by asking yourself:

  • How will we feel about it 10 minutes from now?
  • How about 10 months from now?
  • How about 10 years from now?

It’s easy to make short-term decisions that may be beneficial 10 minutes or 10 months from now, but these types of decisions usually don’t benefit us in the long-term. What’s harder is to make decisions that may not appear attractive or impactful in the short-term, but over time can have a positive impact in your life.

Whenever you’re struggling to go to the gym, resist temptations to eat junk food, or overcoming the difficulties of learning a new skill, use the 10/10/10/ Rule to think not only about how you’ll feel about it later today, but also years from today.

2. Pareto’s Law

In anything we do, there’s always ~20% of activities that will deliver 80% of our desired results.

The origin of Pareto’s Law came from an Italian Economist, Vilfredo Pareto, who noticed that 80% of wealth and land were controlled by only 20% of the people. Today, this concept has been applied to business, health, expenditures, etc.
